His theory is that as long as you evade the corporate structure youβll remain free of the corrosive effect of their perverse incentives.
He has a good explanation for how and why they became perverse, too, and itβs not βtheyβre all monsters!β level posturing. Might be worth your while.
Thanks for sharing. I am big fan!! Single mom learning how to navigate AI and Iβm learning about the tech world and trying to figure how to use my skills and hopefully start something useful.
My wife worked for Edelman here in Chicago. Richard, according to her and those that interacted with him, is a brilliant speaker. But being in PR, I would expect nothing less. However, as a leader? He personified "Command and Control". The environment was definitely not conducive to collaboration. More "Mad Men" :) So.. my take is "talks a good game to tell his audience what sounds really good but don't ask questions". Just a view from the outside looking in. And.. btw.. your outfit was fire, even with the unzipped boot! :)
The deflection is telling. MrBeast has built his entire identity around obsessive dedication, brutal focus, and the sacrifices that come with it β which makes the 'I'm just an entertainer' dodge all the more calculated. He has had to convince himself the platform is neutral, that kids will be kids, and that responsibility ends at upload. He is, in every sense, the PT Barnum of the 21st century: a showman of staggering scale who has decided that what happens in the crowd is not his concern.
But someone's concern it must be. Meta was found legally liable for the harm done to children β and their response was a polished ad for Instagram Teen, essentially saying 'trust us now,' which implies, without ever admitting, that they weren't trustworthy before - or you as a parent failed at the job. No accountability. Just rebranding.
MrBeast didn't invent the incentive structure β but he perfected it, and he profits from it enormously. The least credible thing he could do was pretend not to understand it. The name, it turns out, may be more self-aware than he lets on.
businesses are holding back especially with staff ecommerce retail warehouses. and complex fiscality..the empowerment the AI gives....big orgs are thinking how to harness and how to hide it or even Im vulnerable when businesses can react to real time monitoring
I love how you are canned on your recap and I truly believe you are the leader in this space. I donβt follow much on the social medias and I donβt have FB, IG on my phone or bookmarked. But I do have few burner accounts I have in those sites in case I need to comment on someone else post to get βfree resourcesβ :)
Really appreciate your comments about education. Iβm an elementary school teacher and am deeply concerned about where this is headed. Itβs all very misaligned as you say.
It brings me peace to read genuine, balanced takes from someone in the middle of an industry that sold every bit of its soul. Rare stuff.
I feel bad enough I have a SaaS app and market it once in a while. I hope I'm never totally bought.

You make my top 10 list!
aww thanks <3
No idea what that event actually is, but I still enjoyed your recap of it.
Especially this line is GREAT:
"Our plan is to upskill employees so we can still fire them but they can be hired SOMEWHERE ELSE"
that's the plan from a CEO of 25000-people org
Thatβs the plan of all of them, mate.
