His theory is that as long as you evade the corporate structure youβll remain free of the corrosive effect of their perverse incentives.
He has a good explanation for how and why they became perverse, too, and itβs not βtheyβre all monsters!β level posturing. Might be worth your while.
Thanks for sharing. I am big fan!! Single mom learning how to navigate AI and Iβm learning about the tech world and trying to figure how to use my skills and hopefully start something useful.
ehh i have lots of opinions, but I dont like to get distracted from my core mission of free AI education. The reason - I would much rather teach ppl about AI let them form their own opinions than preach mine.
I realised later, that I didn't really word my thoughts properly. The word opinions, wasn't the best word to use. I was trying to say, that it when it comes to "business" circle "online marketing" entreprenuers who have an large online presence and influence, it's rare (in my experience), that you hear them say anything that "might sound controversial"- they will never comment on anything, whether I agree or not, is not the point. You're comment about Mr Beast for example, is what I mean. Now, those who "decide" to not use their platform to share their personal views on matters outside of the "brand" they are building, that's completely fine, I was just saying, it was refreshing to see that style of newsletter.
Not sure if explained myself even better...lol - You can tell this wasn't written with Ai....lol
yeah I used to be concerned about such things... HOWEVER you'll find that most influencers refrain from sharing controversial opinions because they're afraid of being WRONG and LOOKING STUPID. Other cited reasons tend to be 100% fabricated excuses.
My wife worked for Edelman here in Chicago. Richard, according to her and those that interacted with him, is a brilliant speaker. But being in PR, I would expect nothing less. However, as a leader? He personified "Command and Control". The environment was definitely not conducive to collaboration. More "Mad Men" :) So.. my take is "talks a good game to tell his audience what sounds really good but don't ask questions". Just a view from the outside looking in. And.. btw.. your outfit was fire, even with the unzipped boot! :)
He's a great thinker and presenter. He's not so comfortable in small groups. His brand building for Patagonia was legendary! According to my wife, he's amazing at PR. So.. a lot of what he says is.. at it's heart.. PR. The messaging of socially conscious companies picks from the ground swell of public opinions regarding companies.
And yet, you have a ton of followers. Don't sell yourself short :) You have vision. You can break concepts down. The only missing part, should you want to have a team, is using those skills to provide the path forward then let your team do it. This is where "Command and Control" fails. They tell you what to do.. even how to do it. Then never trusts it will happen so they micromanage. When things go wrong (I've never had a project go as planned yet!), they blame and guilt. Instead of actually, you know, fixing the problem! So no one learns and are afraid to change. Sad. There are better ways to lead.
Thank you, Sabrina, for inspiring and representing those of us like you - who really do want to make the world a better place using AI responsibly and ethically with a human centered focus always!
I love this recap and am in the middle of watching your three YT channels (including yours) that you recommended to learn all that I can about Claude AI and hopefully after this weekend of it I can build somethingπ
Keep doing what you're doing. I love your transparency and believe you can do this because you essentially work for yourself. Politicians, big company leaders and influencers (e.g. Mr. Beast) have too many people to please and that it makes them hesitant to tell us what's really going on.
i find the most interesting exercise is mapping out how someone makes money (i.e. incentive structure) because then you can predict with high accuracy what they will say
Sabrina: Thanks for teaching me to be more direct. I had been following your e-mails from when you first started showing up on my iG . While your offerings or tips about AI are valuable but I didn't see anything suggesting your offerings are different than anyone else online - - but FREE - hard to believe than one as Ive heard it too many times. I was interested in a tour of your corner of the Internet and assess for myself if the courses workshops you''re offering are really free -- even if a teacher like yourself offered courses at zero but, required students (once they make some doe) to share a percent of their gross revenue with you as the one solely responsible for their new found success; duration of the Pp is the thing but easily negotiated. On your side, the pP is a limited one- capped at your investment (that too is probably zero). SO, in a scenario like that, you would be my limited partner and I would be the general - thus zero liability on you _AND_ that type contract could be replicated 100 times with 100 students - no one especially me expects time from a teacher - in other words no one should expect time from a teacher who is not being ppaid??Something like that - if it exists anywhere -- would be satisfactory & FAR better than free - as students will normally associate the contract cost and commitment such as I described with tremendous VALUE - unless they are members or Reddit (kind of a joke but still true - my opinion) . I have wasted so much money learning from brand new whales who are poor teachers and they waste too much precious time telling students about their climb from nothingness to a billion or a million or 100k, followed by the value of what they sell vs the cost for us lucky attendees - e.g. ordinarily we'd charge $15,000 for this training but today $47, then if you actually buy the $47 item, you quickly learn that $47 was never a final price -- that FINAL is still $11,000 or $5000 - FOR WHICH YOU'LL MAKE (LIKE bobby) $25,000 in his first month or Suzi who was able to quite her job as a Nanoscience and Nanotechnology scientist in exchange for 25,000 a month selling ice-creme recipes from a long lost relative. that has been my experience except the partner offer - heard that once and liked it until the guru communicated the pre-partnership COST AND THE MASSIVE FAIL RATE DESPITE SPENDING LIFETIME SAVINGS -- usually the disclaimer sounds like this and amazingly - each of 100 guru use nearly IDENTICAL WORDS to espouse his/her disclaimer - VERY MUCH LIKE watching a group of 100 mini videos showing real news -- on CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, plus the other's I mentioned etc. No different than listening to 40 new stations complain "Trump's war on Iran will be the death nail to blow up democracy". Afterwards they do gone on to say - almost in unison: However, unless you're better, more persistent, etc than 95% of my students you'll make zero. IF YOU HAVE TIME - hard to imagine much time left in your day to day - buty, if you have time, please critique my thinking if a critique is deserved ok. Best always, Brian Peter McNamara. my info is included on my website www.TaxReductionMST.com
good news i don't have to mess around with any one of that, I'll just keep mine friend and have an occasional blotato ad embedded usually at the end of a relevant tutorial :)
It brings me peace to read genuine, balanced takes from someone in the middle of an industry that sold every bit of its soul. Rare stuff.
I feel bad enough I have a SaaS app and market it once in a while. I hope I'm never totally bought.
Check out this guy at connectiondynamics.substack.com.

Umm, that's my substack. I hope you like it!
You make my top 10 list!
aww thanks <3

you'd probably like my free women's group :) https://www.skool.com/women-building-ai-2577
Sabrina -- is there a free men's group ?? i'm as hungry and hopeless as anyone
brian mcnamara
there are a couple on Skoool but pretty full of spam unfortunately
Well, Iβm glad I read your newsletter. Iβm in the same boat as Yenny
Very refreshing to read an email that had YOU'RE actual opinions about things, I really respect that and value that!

So what brought that shift, to help you stop being concerned about sharing your (maybe) controversial views?
No idea what that event actually is, but I still enjoyed your recap of it.
Especially this line is GREAT:
"Our plan is to upskill employees so we can still fire them but they can be hired SOMEWHERE ELSE"
that's the plan from a CEO of 25000-people org
Thatβs the plan of all of them, mate.
nah, many of them don't even bother to try upskilling
High, intense response. Loving your candor.

thatβs too bad, I want to learn more about him after hearing him speak for sure

very honestly, one of my insecurities is that I'm similar - great with words and marketing... not that great at leading a team of people

Sabrina you are a true MOAT! I love your commentary and your authenticity! Keep doing what you're doing!
wait whats a MOAT

This is why Sabrina grows: she doesnβt post tools only. She posts identity, opportunity, status shift, and action.
Not βhereβs AI.β
But: βhereβs the life AI can help createβif you earn it.βπππ
What software do you use to post across social media?
i built my own app called blotato :)
Ohhh k cool so thatβs what blotato does!! I should get this. ππππ
