What are your thoughts about a non-engineer being successful at creating a software this way? Im thinking i would need to hire someone at some point given that AI can only get you so far

The rebuild part answers this, just not how the MVP story suggests. The scrappy version worked without deep skills because vibe coding needs almost none. The rebuild didn't: Sabrina says the tools she had couldn't produce a codebase she could maintain without real technical guidance, so she shifted from AI driving to AI assisting, herself doing the driving.
That's the actual fork, at least in her account. Early proof needed no skill investment, for her. A codebase real users depend on did, and either you build that skill yourself or bring in someone who already has it.
This mirrors what I see with retirement planning in India. People over-scope the plan— home purchase as the ultimate goal — instead of starting with a small SIP and emergency fund to test behavior.
The ugly MVP is your starter corpus; early revenue is your emergency fund. Both give you evidence to commit, not intentions.
Starting late or over-insuring are the same trap: waiting for perfect before acting.
